GUNUNG BEREMBUN (CAMERON HIGHLANDS) EXPEDITION 2012

ASSALAMUALAIKUM WBT

It's an opening season for 2012..it's not too late I guess to wish you all a Happy New Year.

The Underestimate begins this new year with a warm up session at Gunung Berembun, Cameron Highlands, Pahang (though some of the Underestimate had begun with Gunung Angsi before...but I didn't join the trip). It's about 1840m from sea level.

There were 10 of us i.e. Azmir, Dilla, Syafiq, Shat, Syaf, Meor, Fatin, Zahir, Tuty and me, from Melaka and KL in this trip using 2 cars. However, only 7 of us went up to Berembun...the other 3 stayed at Tanah Rata due to avoidable circumstances...hahahaa. However, our sifu Bob who had been here before could not join this trip. So, we have to make do with only little knowledge about Berembun obtained from internet to guide us. We didn't even hire any pro guide to guide us here.

We had our breakfast first at Tanah Rata before preparing to hike. We stopped at Masjid Tanah Rata for changing and preparation.

Preparation at Masjid Tanah Rata

After that we moved to Kem Sg. Pauh (near to Tmn. Sedia) for starting point. We parked one car here and the other car was used by the other 3 that didn't follow.

At Kem Sg. Pauh...ready to hike

At Kem Sg. Pauh, just take Jungle Walk No. 6. It will lead us to the peak of Gunung Berembun. The trek is very visible and the signages could be considered sufficient so as not to lead us astray.

About to reach the peak

Just before the peak

Basically, the trek to the peak of Berembun is not that difficult. Those with average stamina could also simply reach the peak. We reached the peak after about 2 hours of hiking. At the peak, the beirut is till available there. We spent about 45 minutes there before trekking down via different route that end up at MARDI, Tanah Rata which I think a much shorter and easier route to the peak. We reached MARDI after 1 hour.

The Underestimate at the peak...Congratulations to all

Finally reached the MARDI vegetable farm...CONGRATULATIONS!!

The trek ended up at MARDI vegetable farm. All of us had successfully conquered Gunung Berembun.

SO, it's a very good start for a more challenging year ahead for the Underestimate. We still have a lot of activities and plans in our list. Hope this year could be more interesting than before.

All the best to the Underestimate! What next?
