Pulau Redang is always special. In my view, Pulau redang is the most beautiful island in Malaysia in term of its beaches and crystal clear water. I really2 pray that the program will rum smoothly in October. Among the interesting programs scheduled are beach cleaning, underwater cleaning at Pulau Bidong and other Marine Park islands like P.Pinang, Pulau Yu etc. Can't wait to go there again.

BUKIT TABUR EAST EXPEDITION

My first Bukit Tabur expedition was back in February 2010. But that was Tabur West. Although I felt that after Tabur West expedition, there gonna be no more Tabur after this, it doesn't go that way. We went again to Bukit Tabur but this time the east side with Terra Conqueror. 8 of us from Melaka, 2 from Kajang (Faridah and Yam) and the other 4 others including Mr Tay waited for us at Melawati Medan Selera.

To get to the starting point, once you exited MRR2 to Tmn Melawati, go straight until you see the first roundabout, take 9.00 o'clock direction and go straight. You'll see 2nd roundabout, take 3.00 o'clock direction. Go straight about 100 m and turn left. Go straight for another 100m and turn left. Go straight and you'll see a lot of vehicles parking alongside of the road.

We started the hiking around 10 am in the morning. it was a bit late. However, due to the haze, the weather condition was very pleasant.

I can rate Tabur East as easy but a bit risky. It doesn't take long to reach the peak...only 1 to 1 1/2 hours. It requires us to climb a number of steep slopes (sometimes almost 90 degree) using provided ropes. We need to be extra cautious, otherwise, something bad might happen. However, once we are there, it doesn't seem too risky when we see people can easily and safely climb the slopes. For me, the riskier part was the falling stones from above while we are climbing the slopes. This is true especially when we there are 2 groups who are going up and down at the same time at the slopes. I encountered this incident and a number of falling stones did went down very fast next to me but luckily it didn't hit anybody.

The trail was a bit steep at the beginning especially to those with no stamina. Please do some warmup and stretching before hiking.

We parked our car here

Did some stretching before hiking

At the beginning...these are our guide..hehe

Among the sharp rocks that we have to walk through...

The signboard which marks that we are near to the top but...

...we need to climb this slope first..huhu...extra careful here
There's another peak which is higher at the far end...don't know how to get there..

Huhu...scary

Syiokkk...

Another syiokk...

Shady resting place a few metres after the peak since it was hot at the peak...

Sharp and beautiful rocks....
Vertical drop a few metres after the peak...couldn't go further

On the way down...different route...very near

This is the end of the going down trail
After the hiking, we went to Taman Rimba Ampang for mandi-manda and changing our cloth. Then we went for late lunch at Tmn Dagang. Close to Maghrib, we went to Lookout Point, Ampang for borak2 and minum2 while enjoying the magnificent view of KL at dusk.

Lastly, we headed to Cyberjaya for late dinner at PADI...thank you Faridah and Yam for their double treats and superb hospitality.

See you again next time.
