GUNUNG LAMBAK EXPEDITION

 ASSALAMUALAIKUM WBT

Still not too late to wish all Muslims around the world Selamat Hari Raya! Eid Mubarak!

It's been quite some times that this blog is not being updated. Lately, everybody was so busy with their own commitment that it was very hard to plan and organize event for the Underestimate. Anyway, we decided to have a PSG (Plan...Set..Gerak) program no matter how many of us could join..this time only four of us joined this trip i.e Azmir, Dilla, Shat and me...Congratulations to All! During the last Hari Raya, the Underestimate celebrated at Mt Stong...but this year we went for a simple trip to Gunung Lambak (510m) at Kluang, Johor.

We departed from Melaka at around 7.30 am to Kluang and stopped by at Kluang Rail Coffee for a breakfast. This is actually the real Kluang railway coffee  (as explained by the worker when we asked).

 The signboard...different from Kluang Station

 Very interesting...lu fikir lah sendiri

Roti bakar....terbaek
 Nasi Lemak sambal sotong

  The price is very reasonable...

Ready for hiking

It's been a long time that most of us did not do outdoor activity. So, we do not know our level of stamina. We hope that  Gunung Lambak is a good start for us to be active again doing outdoor activity.

At the starting point..with cemented pathway

There is a water park, recreational park and abandoned chalets at the foot of the mountain. There's a lot of people jogging there as well. If you're not sure of the starting point...just ask any one of them. The trail started with cemented pathway which made it easy for visitor to do exercise. The jungle trail will start when the cemented pathway ends.

The jungle trail starts here

Rest for a while after 30 minutes trekking

One thing about Gunung Lambak is that there is no proper and friendly signages to the peak. I don't know why they named it Gunung Lambak...maybe there are "berlambak" (many) routes to the top. As none of us had been there before, we solely depend  on the visible trail infront of our eyes...hoping that it is the right trail to the peak. Once we reach the big signboard of 'SELAMAT DATANG KE GUNUNG LAMBAK' (see the picture below) we were quite unsure of the trail. Anyway, we just decided to go straight (using the trail behind the sign board). Later, we came to know that most of the time people use that trail to go down because it is quite easy but a bit far. The going up trail is very steep although it is very near. But, that was the right decision that we made looking at the condition of our stamina.

The steep going up trail is where I was looking at...but we follow the trail behind the signboard.

The trail behind the signboard...looks very easy

Taking a short rest along the way

At this point...we were very confused of the real direction. Luckily we chose to go to the left. We still do not know where the trail will end up if we  go straight or right

After 1 hour 30 minutes trekking...we reached the peak. This is the landmark..

Gunung Lambak 510m above sea level

The Underestimate at the peak of Gunung Lambak...Congratulations!

As usual...celebration time with air kemenangan

Looking each other in disbelief...xde stamina pun leh naik Gunung Lambak gak eh???

 Another landmark at the top

After half an hour resting at the peak, we decided to go down using different route. We found out that the trail was really steep and challenging. We could not imagine how we would have fared if we went up using this trail...huhu.

 Going down

 On the way down

The view from above while going down...very steep...luckily we escaped this torture

This is the signboard that we missed...otherwise we'll follow the tough trail to the top

Different route again to the base

Hanging bridge at the recreational park

We took only 30 minutes to go down using the steep route. Every one of us were still OK when we reached down..still got the energy and was very happy definitely.

Our next program is JJCM (jalan-jalan cari makan) at Batu Pahat. Our target is to find Mee Racun (Poison Noodle) and beraya at Syaff house.

Mee racun...very nice. It's like mee bandung with extra egg, potato and most importantly 'Gear Box'

 Raya at Syaff's house

Although the trip was very brief and simple, I think this is the most successful PSG program after a long break from outdoor activity. Definitely we were very2 happy.

InsyaAllah we'll continue to organize more and more PSG programs after this. We'll continue regardless of number of participants...2 orang pun kita carry on (except kalau gi water park...hehe..:p).

Some of projects that we have in our mind:

1. USS Singapore
2. Gunung Berlumut, Kluang, Johor,
3. Gunung Yellow Pass, Cameron Highlands, Pahang
4. Bukit Gambang Resort City (min. quorum 3pax...haha)
